"Hung Hay Fat Choy" is how you wish a happy new year in the Chinese world. It literally means "wishing you great happiness and prosperity." The children made lanterns, Chun Lians, which are red strips of card with special greetings which Chinese people exchange. They learnt a Chinese New Year song and tasted freshly made Chinese spring rolls, rice and noodles donated by one of our generous parents. The children tested their fine motor skills by eating/trying to eat with chopsticks. They finished their day by listening to the story of how the Chinese years were named and they all left the nursery clutching a fortune cookie in their little hands. What an exciting day!
